| Question:
|
I
have been inactive for a few years. Do I have to pay dues for
each year I have been away or inactive? |
| |
|
| Answer: |
No.
You just have to pay a reinstatement fee of $84.10 (CASI only
certification) and pay this year's dues. You may reinstate from
the CASI website or call our National office and let them know
you wish to become an active CASI member again! If you reinstate
before January 1, 2009 the reinstatement fee (only) will be
waived. Additionally you will have the chance to win a free
membership if your dues are paid before October 31, 2008. |

| Question: |
I
have been inactive for a number of years. Do I have to retake
the level of certification I attained again? |
|
|
| Answer: |
No...once
you have passed your certification, it is yours for life. However,
you are requested to do the Online
Update. This will count as a refresher course and should
be done prior to returning to teaching. |

|
| Question: |
As
an Instructor, am I insured to teach privately or as an "Independent"? |
|
|
| Answer: |
No. As a member you are not covered as an independant instructor/coach.
Coverage is for free riding and for excess limits beyond any
other insurance in place at the time (ie., employer's, homeowner's,
tenant's etc.). Because of the sensitivity of this issue with
area operators, members considering this type of activity
should do so only with the approval of the host resort.
Please note that additional coverage should be purchased
if you are conducting business as a Snowboard Camp or Snow
School. For further information, please contact Frances
Dion at our National office.

| Question:
|
What
if the weather sucks? |
| |
|

|
| Question:
|
How
good do I need to be? |
| |
|
| Answer: |
You
should have solid intermediate riding skills. Be able to link
turns easily and smoothly on both your toe and heel sides and
be in control of your board at all times. Remember, this is
a course that teaches you how to become an instructor therefore
only half of your overall mark is for your riding skills. |

conditions.
Complete round finished turns.
Ride with your knees flexed.
Have the ability to slowly demonstrate a big, wide turn.
Have the ability to demonstrate at a very slow speed, basic
snowboarding maneuvers such as side slipping & pendulum

|
| Question:
|
But,
Ive never taught before. |
| |
|
| Answer: |
No worries, thats what the course is all about. The
evaluators are there to teach you how to teach so youll
be able to go out and give a great first lesson. The teaching
portion makes up half your mark. As an instructor, your job
is to teach and demonstrate. If you are outgoing, self-confident,
and speak audibly and clearly, you are likely the type of
person who will do well in the teaching portion of the course.
It is also important to be on time, pay attention and ask
questions when needed. Be involved and have fun!
